Massachusetts family explains why they support residential fire sprinklers

Chris and Amy Murray spoke to NFPA on the porch of their new home in Northbridge, Massachusetts. The home is protected with a home fire sprinkler system. The couple's twin sons have cerebral palsy - which would make escape from a home fire difficult.

Fires in the home pose one of the biggest threats to the people of your community. Over 350,000 home fires occur every year in this country and more than 2,500 people a year die in these home fires. Home fire sprinklers are a proven way to protect lives and property against fires at home.

Learn more about home fire sprinklers.

Visit NFPA's Fire Sprinkler Initiative website for resources for the fire service and other sprinkler advocates who want to demonstrate the need for home fire sprinklers in their community.

Visit the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition website for educational information for consumers, the fire service, homebuilders and other professionals on the life-saving value of installing automatic fire sprinkler protection in homes.
